Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth
Receives Highest National Recognition
The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth has again achieved accreditation by the American Association of Museums (AAM), the highest national recognition afforded the nation’s museums. Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies, and to the museum-going public. All museums must undergo a reaccreditation review at least every 10 years to maintain accredited status. The Accreditation Commission commended the Modern for the “sophisticated manner in which exhibitions and accompanying interpretive programs incorporate diversity [showing] a commitment to respond to the needs of the community.” The Commission also noted that the Modern’s “environmental stewardship plan is a model that is both ecologically and economically responsible.” Of the nation’s estimated 17,500 museums, 775 are currently accredited. The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is one of 39 museums accredited in Texas.
